Venezuela is one of the early strong teams in Group D of the World Baseball Classic (WBC) and set an undefeated record in this matchup. Meanwhile, Nicaragua suffered a slump in the group stage, recording three consecutive losses and falling behind 0-3 in this match. Losses to the Dominican Republic, Netherlands and Israel left them on the outside when it came to advancing and led them by wide margins in their first three games. Already mathematically certain to be eliminated, Nicaragua will aim to play their best ballgame against Venezuela this Sunday and finish the billiards match on a competitive note.
