Brayden Carrington scored 18 points and John Blackwell added 14 as Wisconsin boosted its postseason seeding hopes with a 78-45 win over Maryland on Wednesday in a Big Ten matchup in Madison, Wis.

Wisconsin’s leading rebounder Nolan Winter was helped off the floor with a left leg injury with 7:01 left after scoring on a putback and did not return. Winter recorded 12 double-doubles and averaged 8.7 rebounds and 13.5 points.

Nick Boyd scored 13 points and Austin Rapp added 11 for Wisconsin (21-9, 13-6 Big Ten), which finished 15-2 at home. Carrington hit a school-record nine 3-pointers and scored a career-high 32 points in a 90-73 win over the Badgers in Washington on Saturday.

Andre Mills had 14 points and Elijah Saunders had 11 for Maryland (11-19, 4-15), which suffered its fifth loss in six games.

Guillermo Del Pino opened the second half with a 3-pointer to put Maryland within 34-24, but the Badgers responded with an 11-0 run. Boyd’s breakaway layup gave Wisconsin a 45-24 lead.

Rapp hit three straight 3-pointers to put the Badgers ahead 54-31 with less than 11 minutes remaining.

Wisconsin enters a tie for fifth place in the Big Ten with No. 15 Purdue and 1.5 games behind No. 11 Illinois. The Badgers closed the regular season Saturday at Purdue, which gave Wisconsin one of two home losses in early January.

The top four teams receive a direct triple bye to the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament. Wisconsin is guaranteed a double bye, but still has a chance to finish in the top four.

Wisconsin had just three turnovers and had a 16-3 advantage in turnovers. The Carrington-led Badgers also held a 39-10 advantage in bench points.

Carrington scored 13 first-half points to lead Wisconsin to a 34-21 lead, hitting five of eight shots, three of them sixes from deep. The Badgers missed their first nine 3-point attempts but made six of their last nine in the first half.
