Satellite images have revealed the extent of damage at Iranian military sites following US and Israeli strikes, while civilian infrastructure, including schools and hospitals, has also been damaged.
The internet has been blacked out since the war began on February 28.
Satellite imagery is one of the few ways to find out what’s happening on the ground.
Zoom in to explore strike locations on satellite maps
Missile bases
The US and Israel are being targeted IranMissile bases to reduce the regime’s ability to launch ballistic missiles.
The target was a base in the northwest of Isfahan, located near the ‘Ahmed Kazemi Barracks’ named after IRGC General Ahmad Kazemi.
Pictures from March 1 show initial damage to a building on the site, and later on March 3, the same building was flattened.
The building on the left was previously targeted by Israel in June and is a target again.
It was one of several missile bases targeted. Another attack occurred near Kermanshah in northwestern Iran.
It is one of Iran’s sprawling underground “missile cities,” a complex of deep tunnels built into the mountains that shields much of the country’s missile arsenal from detection and attack.
In March 4 footage provided by Planet Labs, Sky News spotted at least 10 buildings destroyed. In addition to the buildings, craters from the strikes remain in front of the tunnel entrances. This technique can be used to collapse tunnels.
Iran’s missile capability is a threat to the US and Israel. They produce different types of missiles. The longest-range missile, the Sajjil, has a maximum range of 2,000km (1,242 miles). That’s far enough to hit Moscow or Athens — making any missile base a prime target.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on March 4 that the number of Iranian missile launches had dropped by 86% in four days.
Centcom commander Admiral Brad Cooper said hundreds of air defense sites, ballistic missiles and drones were destroyed by the US strikes.
Naval ports
Ports from the US and Israel have also been targeted. Iran’s navy is being targeted because it operates from a launch site for missiles and strikes.
Imagery from satellite provider Vantar and the European Space Imaging Show shows the Konark naval port in southern Iran is badly damaged.
Satellite images from March 4 show two destroyed buildings in the harbor and a sunken Iranian ship.
The head of US Central Command, which oversees American military operations in the Middle East, said 17 Iranian vessels had been destroyed, including its “highly operational” submarine.
The naval base is important because it is very close to the Strait of Hormuz, a major commercial shipping lane controlled by Iran. The base is used by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and is said to launch patrols and exercises in the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean, conducting missile and naval training operations.
Konark also supports Chabahar Port, one of Iran’s only deep-water ports with direct access to the Indian Ocean.
Another port targeted was the military port at Bandar Abbas, which is the main hub of Iran’s navy and provides access to the Strait of Hormuz.
Imagery shows a plume of smoke from the Iranian ship, the IRIS Makran, after the strike on March 2.
Although it is not clear how much damage the ship sustained, the ship is Iran’s largest naval vessel and serves as a floating base. If out of commission, it would be a blow to the regime’s naval capabilities.
In the latest footage from March 4, the building can be seen with extensive damage to the roof.
Nuclear facilities
Nuclear facilities were targeted as the West believed Iran was building nuclear weapons.
One of the targets was the Natanz fuel enrichment plant in western Iran.
The Natanz Fuel Enrichment Plant is Iran’s primary uranium-enrichment plant, known to be operational since the US and Israeli strikes in June 2025. According to Raffaello Grossi of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the centrifuges were “severely damaged, if not completely destroyed, after this strike”.
Additional strikes took place on March 2.
A March 3 image shows three destroyed buildings at the site.
The IAEA confirmed that the entrance to the site had been damaged on March 3.
The Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) confirmed that personnel and vehicles at the entrance to the building were damaged.
Controversy over Iran’s nuclear program continues. The regime in Tehran has long insisted that it has no intention of developing a nuclear weapon.
Civil infrastructure
Airstrikes hit civilian infrastructure. Some sites are near Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) facilities, including police stations.
More than 150 people were killed in an attack on a girls’ school in the city of Minab on February 28, Iranian officials said.
The school is located near an IRGC base.
The March 4 footage shows six locations where missiles or shrapnel fell on the school.
“The United States does not intentionally target a school. Our intentions are missiles,” US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in an interview.
Israel said it found no link to their operations.
More satellite imagery shows Tehran’s Gandhi Hospital.
Pictures from March 1 and March 4 show the television tower directly next to the hospital in ruins. Videos reviewed by Sky News show it didn’t just affect the television tower; The hospital was also hit.
