Four of the six U.S. service members killed in the Iran war were killed when a drone crashed into a port in Kuwait on Sunday, the U.S. Army Reserve Command said Tuesday.
The US government said six US service members were killed in a military operation that began early Saturday with US and Israeli strikes on Iran. In response, Iran launched missiles and drones at nearby countries.

The US and Israel launched strikes in Iran around 1:15 a.m. Saturday, using “precision munitions launched from the air, land and sea” and one-way drones, the Central Command said.
Iran’s Red Crescent said about 800 people were killed in the Israeli and American strikes.
Iran responded to the US and Israeli attacks by launching missiles and drones at targets in surrounding countries. Eleven people died in Israel, officials said, and deaths were reported in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on Tuesday launched 230 attack drones on the US base in Erbil, Iraq, and the US bases in Kuwait’s Ali Al Salem and Arifjan, the semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim reported.
President Donald Trump said on Monday that military action could last for weeks. “We have planned for four to five weeks, but we have the capacity to go longer than that,” the president said.
Trump and other administration officials have said the U.S. attacked Iran because of the imminent threat and the failure to reach a deal after nuclear talks.
Some members of Congress have questioned that assessment and Trump’s power to attack Iran without congressional approval. Democrats and some Republicans plan to push for a war powers vote that would limit Trump’s ability to carry out further strikes on Iran.
Iran’s Red Crescent said about 800 people were killed in the Israeli and American strikes. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was also killed, Iranian state media confirmed.
