The Pentagon has officially confirmed only three deaths among American service members
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that the US has suffered 200 casualties in Iranian retaliatory attacks on bases across the Middle East.
Backed by the US, Israel launched what it described as a pre-emptive operation against Iranian military and nuclear-related targets early Saturday, claiming the strikes were aimed at neutralizing threats posed by the Islamic Republic in the region.
Iranian forces have retaliated to the US-Israeli attack by targeting Washington’s military bases across the region.
“As a result of missile attacks on US bases, at least 200 US military personnel were killed and wounded” Tasnim news agency reported on Saturday, citing IRGC’s statement.
The US Department of Defense initially dismissed the claim as a complete lie, saying that the attacks had only occurred. “small” Damage to military installations and no deaths or injuries. However, the Pentagon on Sunday acknowledged that at least three American soldiers had been killed in action and five seriously wounded in the military operation against Iran.

Iran’s retaliation targeted several US military facilities across the Middle East, including the Fifth Fleet Support Center in Bahrain, a base in Iraqi Kurdistan, Al Udeed Air Base in Qatar, Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, Muwafaq Al Salrodi Air Base in Arabia, according to reports. Israeli news outlets reported that about 35 missiles were fired at Israel, injuring one person.

The latest strikes represent Israel’s second major military operation against Iran in less than a year. In June 2025, during the 12-day conflict, the IDF, in cooperation with US military forces, carried out a surprise bombing of the Islamic Republic’s military and nuclear facilities, killing senior military commanders, government officials and nuclear scientists.
