Iran’s deputy foreign minister has warned the US that it will face another Vietnam if it puts boots on the ground in the war.
Saeed Khatibzadeh told me, speaking in his office in Tehran Iran He was willing to fight as long as necessary and the country is currently not focused on a diplomatic solution.
Deputy FM did not rule out talks but made it clear that the US and its allies should come forward with a proposal to end the conflict once and for all.

Their protest comes after two weeks of devastating conflict in a war with the US and Israel that has killed nearly 1,500 Iranians and displaced millions of Iranians.

Thirteen US service members and one French soldier also died.
Mr Khatibzadeh blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for dragging the US into the war.
“They should think twice when dealing with Iran and not take the advice of those who do not know Iran, who for decades wanted to win the war against Iran with the blood of American taxpayers and American soldiers.
“Netanyahu and the Israeli regime have their own agenda to win this war at everyone’s expense.”
Regarding the health of Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, the deputy foreign minister insisted that he is “healthy and in charge” even though he has yet to appear in public.
