Tundra Esports Advances to DreamLeague Season 28 Playoffs Finals


Tundra Esports advanced to the DreamLeague Season 28 playoff finals after sweeping Team Liquid in the upper bracket final on Saturday.

Sunday’s finals will see Tundra Esports face the winner of the lower bracket final between Team Liquid and Aurora Gaming in a double-elimination format.

The $1 million Dota 2 event kicked off with 16 teams split into two groups of eight teams to compete in a round robin stage. Every series consisted of two games, with the top four teams from each group advancing to Group Stage 2, which was played in a single round-robin format of best-of-three matches until Friday.

The playoffs will be best-of-three matches until the finals, which are best-of-five matches.

The winning team will receive $250,000 in prize money and $40,000 in club prize money. The runner-up team will receive $100,000 and $30,000 in club prize money.

Aurora Gaming opened play with a 2-1 win over Xtreme Gaming in Saturday’s lower bracket semifinals. Xtreme Gaming won by red after 40 minutes, while Aurora Gaming won by red after 47 and 29 minutes.

Russia’s Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko has a kill-death-assist ratio of 21-4-28 for Aurora Gaming, while teammate Artem “Lorenof” Melnyk of Ukraine has a 23-8-30 KDA in three games. Wang “Ame” Chunyu of China finished fourth in the tournament with a KDA ratio of 23-9-13 for Xtreme Gaming.

Tundra Esports dispatched Team Liquid 2-0 in the upper bracket final, winning in 46 minutes for the red team and 39 minutes for the green team.

Russia’s Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko posted a KDA ratio of 32-2-19 for Tundra Esports, while teammate Israel’s Neta “33” Shapira had 24-5-30. Sweden’s Michael “MiCKe” Vu posted a percentage of 13-10-6 for Team Liquid.
