“I would like to thank my teammates and coaches for the fight, brotherhood and standard of excellence we strive to achieve every day we step on that field,” Tagovailoa said.

Tagovailoa also spoke about his disappointment in not being able to give Dolphins fans a Super Bowl winning experience.
“To the fans – your energy, loyalty and passion meant everything. I also have deep regrets for not being able to get the job done and not bring a championship to this city,” he said.
“Miami deserves it, and I always wish I could deliver that to you.”

Miami drafted Tagovailoa in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft and are set to take on a $99 million dead cap hit, the largest in history, by releasing the 28-year-old.
In 2023, Tagovailoa advanced to the Pro Bowl after accumulating a league-high 4,624 passing yards that year. However, he had the second-most interceptions in the NFL with 15 INTs during the 2025 campaign, according to nfl.com.
