Trump says no deal with Iran except ‘unconditional surrender’ – The National

US President Donald Trump said on Friday that the US will not sign any deal with Iran unless there is an “unconditional surrender” by the regime in Tehran.

In a Truth Social post, after Trump’s capitulation and the election of “a great and acceptable leader(s), we and our many wonderful and very brave allies and partners will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction, economically bigger, better and stronger than ever.”

“Iran will have a great future. ‘Make Iran Great Again (Miga!)’,” he added.

This came as Iranian President Massoud Pezheshkian said “some countries” had begun to mediate without naming them.

“Let us be clear: We are committed to lasting peace in the region but we will not hesitate to defend the dignity and sovereignty of our nation,” Pezheshkian said in a social media post hours before Trump dismissed the talks.

“Mediation must address those who underestimated the Iranian people and provoked this conflict.”

Israeli warplanes struck Beirut and Tehran on Friday as Iran launched another retaliatory strike against Israel and Gulf states that host US troops.

The death toll continues to rise. The Associated Press reported that at least 1,230 people were killed in Iran, more than 120 in Lebanon and about a dozen in Israel. Six US soldiers were killed.
