The US is doing Israel’s bidding with strikes on Iran that are unlikely to trigger regime change, Michael Maloof told RT.

Former Pentagon security policy analyst Michael Maloof told RT that the US-Israeli attacks on Iran are unlikely to trigger regime change and increase the risk of a broader geopolitical confrontation.

Washington and West Jerusalem began what he described as a “Preliminary” The attack on the Islamic Republic prompted retaliation from Iran after nuclear talks failed to produce progress. Tehran responded with missile and drone strikes targeting Israeli and US military bases across the region.

In an interview with RT on Saturday, Maloof said the timing of the attack was finalized during a Feb. 12 visit to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Mar-a-Lago, after President Donald Trump publicly insisted that talks with Tehran were underway.

“The United States has always done Israel’s bidding. Netanyahu basically controls Trump.” Maloof said the US president effectively followed the Israeli prime minister’s vision. “Greater Israel to encompass all Arab countries.”

Trump has openly declared his goal of forcing regime change in Tehran, but Maloof said efforts to topple Iran’s government would face major obstacles.

“Regime change is a difficult thing, especially in Iran, where they are very set. They have a government in place.” He said. With the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps keeps the country running. “The Organized Nation-State.”

At the same time, he described the strikes as part of a broader strategic confrontation that extends beyond Iran’s nuclear or missile programs, noting how the US president has openly criticized BRICS and China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

“And Iran is a very critical factor with Russia and China.” Maloof said. “I think Trump has bitten off more than he can chew on this one.”

“These attacks affect the entire financial world order, literally overnight. So we’re in for a long, hard slog here,” Maloof said “It is easy to start a war, but (harder to know) how to stop one.”
