Tributes have been paid to the people killed in the mass shooting at a Texas bar – with a third victim confirmed dead.
George Pederson, 30, died of his injuries, Austin police announced Monday evening.
The other two victims of the shooting on West 6th Street in Austin have been identified as Savita Shan, 21, and Ryder Harrington, 19, both university students.
The gunman was identified by the Department of Homeland Security as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne. Officers at the scene were fatally shot.
Although police said it was too early to determine Diagne’s motive, the shooting was being investigated as a possible act of terrorism.
Law enforcement officials told The Associated Press that they were wearing clothes with an Iranian flag design and the words “Property of Allah.” Federal and local investigators said Monday that he was not on authorities’ radar.
More than a dozen people were injured in the shooting, during which Diagne fired a pistol from his SUV before driving past Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden and firing a pistol at people on the sidewalk and inside the bar.
He then got out of the car and started firing at people with a rifle, police said.
Mr Harrington’s brother paid tribute to the youngest victim on Facebook, saying it was “unfair to say the least, my little brother was only given 19 years on this earth”.
“Seeing the man he became and all the lives he touched, leaves me with the certainty that this world has been robbed of a better future,” Reed Harrington said.
Mr. Harrington joined Beta Theta Pi fraternity Texas Tech University in 2024, the fraternity said in an Instagram post.
“Ryder had a rare ability to truly enjoy life, to make people laugh, make moments bigger and ordinary days unforgettable,” the fraternity said.
“If anyone embodies what it means to live fully and love deeply, it’s Ryder.”
A Texas Tech statement said Mr. Harrington was enrolled as recently as the fall 2025 semester but was not taking classes in the current semester.
“Our thoughts are with Ryder’s family, friends and all those affected by this devastating situation,” the statement said.
Ms Shawn’s LinkedIn profile said she was a dual-degree student majoring in management information systems and economics at the University of Texas at Austin.
University president Jim Davis said his death was “devastating” and that several students were injured in the attack.
“Some of these are very serious and we are expecting good results, while others are on the road to recovery,” he said.
“I have visited many of these families and will continue to pray for them.”

The shooting comes a day after attacks against the US and Israel IranAnd authorities are investigating a possible link to global political events.
“Our ultimate goal in everything we do is to determine a motive,” Alex Doran, agent in charge of the FBI’s San Antonio office, said at a news conference.
Police said investigators are reviewing thousands of hours of video and have more than 150 witnesses to interview.
“We’re still in the early hours of this investigation,” said Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis.
Ms Davies said the gunman had legally bought the weapons – a rifle and a pistol – used in the attack in San Antonio several years ago.
Diagne is from Senegal and entered the US on a B-2 tourist visa in 2000, becoming a lawful permanent resident six years later after marrying an American, the US Department of Homeland Security said.
Three people were taken to hospital in critical condition, but police said one victim would be taken off life support on Monday, Sky News’ US partner NBC News reported.
