Token2049 Dubai pushed to 2027 due to security concerns

Conclusion

  • Token2049 Dubai has been postponed to April 21-22, 2027 due to regional tensions affecting security, travel and logistics.
  • The move follows the cancellation of TON Gateway in Dubai by The Open Network.
  • Ticket holders can transfer tickets to the Singapore event or use them in 2027, while refund rights have not yet been determined.

The Dubai edition of Token2049 was postponed until 2027 after organizers cited security concerns related to rising geopolitical tensions over the Iran-Israel war and the US. The decision comes after the cancellation of another major industry conference, the TON Gateway event that was due to be held in Dubai.

The Token2049 Dubai event has been postponed to 2027

In a statement published on X, the organizers of Token2049 said that the event will not be held this year and will instead return in April 2027. “In collaboration with our partners and stakeholders, and in light of the ongoing uncertainty in the region and its impact on security, international travel and logistics, Token2049 will be postponed until April 2027.”

The announcement comes a day after TON canceled its Gateway conference in the city altogether. A related project on Telegram revealed that although the planned meeting will not go ahead, the team hopes to introduce an alternative format later this year.

For attendees who have already purchased tickets to Token2049 Dubai, organizers said the tickets will be valid for another event in 2027.

Attendees can also choose their passes to the Singapore edition of the conference later this year. Event prices in Dubai varied greatly depending on the level of tickets. Early bird access starts at $699, while standard passes start at $1,499.

Premium packages, which offer VIP benefits such as exclusive rooms and priority access, are listed on the conference ticket page, which remains active on the website, for $5,999. It is not yet clear whether participants who do not attend the next event will be entitled to a refund. Organizers have yet to publicly explain this policy.

Token2049’s statement also addressed attendees who had already arranged travel to Dubai for the conference, which was originally scheduled for April 29-30. Organizers advised participants to contact airlines and hotels directly to arrange their bookings as much as possible.

“We know this is disappointing news for many of you who have already made plans, and we do not take this lightly,” organizers wrote on the conference’s website. “Preparations for this event have continued apace. However, ensuring the global crypto industry can come together safely and at the scale and quality that defines Token2049 remains our top priority,” they added.

Before the postponement, the Dubai conference was expected to be attended by prominent figures from across the digital asset industry, including Shane Coplan, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino and Jeremy Allaire.

Meanwhile, attendees of the canceled TON Gateway event have been notified that ticket refunds will be processed within approximately two weeks. Organizers said more details about the event’s replacement format would be announced later in the year.
