The Trump administration has denied reports that Iran has captured US soldiers Israel-Iran conflict news

Growth story,

The head of Iran’s National Security Council said the US was misrepresenting the captures as war deaths.

Ali Larijani, head of Iran’s National Security Council, said his country had captured United States troops since the war began last week.

The claims came in a Saturday post on social media platform X, in which Larijani suggested the US was hiding the capture.

“I am informed that many American soldiers have been captured,” Larijani wrote.

“But the Americans claim they were killed in action. Despite their vain efforts, they cannot hide the truth for long.”

However, the US military quickly denied the claims with its own statement online.

“The Iranian regime is doing everything possible to lie and deceive. This is another clear example,” US Navy Capt. Tim Hawkins said in response to Larijani’s post.

A spokesman for US Central Command (CENTCOM) echoed Hawkins’ denial in a statement to Al Jazeera Arabic.

“The Iranian regime’s claims of capturing American soldiers are yet another example of its lies and deceptions,” a spokesman told Al Jazeera Arabic.

At least six members of the US armed forces have been killed since the war began on February 28 after the US and Israel launched a joint attack. The Trump administration has dubbed the military operation “Operation Epic Fury.”

Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported this week that an estimated 1,332 people had been killed in the war in a week. That death toll includes approximately 180 children killed in a strike on their school in the southeastern city of Minab.
