Defenseman Albert Johansson broke a tie late in the second quarter with a short-handed goal and the Detroit Red Wings cruised to a 4-2 victory over the host Nashville Predators on Monday afternoon.

Lucas Raymond and Alex DeBrincat each had a goal and an assist, while Emmitt Finnie also scored for the Red Wings. The Red Wings have won two of their last three. Marco Kasper had two assists.

John Gibson had 10 saves on 11 shots before leaving the game after the first period with an upper-body injury. He was replaced by Cam Talbot, who stopped 18 of 19 shots, including several outstanding saves in the third quarter, as Detroit maintained a one-goal lead.

Filip Forsberg and Jonathan Marchessault scored for the Predators, who are 1-2-2 in their last five games. Juuse Saros made 27 saves.

Johansson’s short goal gave the Red Wings a 3-2 lead with 3:24 left in the second. At the bottom of the right circle, he ripped off Casper’s cross slot pass with a 2-on-1 rush.

DeBrincat added an empty-net goal with less than 30 seconds left.

Raymond tied the score 2-2 9:48 into the middle period when he took a cross-ice pass from DeBrincat and attempted a shot from below the right circle. It was Raymond’s 20th goal.

Marchessault gave Nashville a 2-1 lead with 7:10 left in the second period when he tapped in Ryan O’Reilly’s cross crease pass after causing a turnover by Detroit defenseman Simon Edvinsson.

Finnie scored his first goal in 23 games with 4 minutes, 51 seconds to play on a rebound off a rush.

Forsberg’s power play goal, a one-time slap shot from the top of the right circle, tied the score at 1-1 with 2:58 left in the first period.

Each team lost a goal in the first game due to goalkeeper interference.

Predators defenseman Adam Wilsby has been dealing with a lower-body injury every week. He suffered the injury and left the game early in the second period during the Predators’ 3-2 overtime loss to the Dallas Stars on Saturday night.
