The Kraken will hope to complete their hat-trick this time against the red-hot Hurricanes.

Business appears to be booming at Seattle’s Kraken gift shop.

That’s because many fans will unnecessarily need new hats to attend Monday’s game against the visiting Carolina Hurricanes.

For the second time in five weeks, Kraken fans threw their hats on the ice at Climate Pledge Arena, thinking one of the home team’s players had completed a hat-trick with three goals.

And secondly, Matty Beniers refused to wear a party hat.

In a game against Washington on January 27, a delayed penalty on Veniers (called by the linesman, so neither official raised his arm) cost Jared McCann a hat trick.

It happened again in Saturday’s 5-1 win over Vancouver.

Captain Jordan Everly, who had a breakaway game in the second period, appeared to score a power-play goal at 11:56 of the third when he received a pass in the left corner, skated to the front of the goal, and slotted the puck past the Canucks’ goaltender and just inside the far post.

When Eberle scored into an empty net with three minutes left, fans littered the ice with their hats.

However, they were unaware that the official scorer had altered Eberle’s previous goal. This apparently came off the toe of Beniers’ skate.

“I think we owe it to the fans,” said Eberle, who leads the team with 22 goals this season.

Following McCann’s failure, the Kraken announced a “Hat Tricked” promotion where 1,000 fans in attendance could fill out a form to win a new hat.

There was no immediate word on whether Kraken would do so again after Saturday’s accident.

Eberle (two goals, one assist) and Chandler Stephenson (one goal, two assists) both had three-point nights for the Kraken, who have slipped for the second straight game. Seattle currently occupies the second and final wild card spot in the Western Conference, three points ahead of the San Jose Sharks, Nashville Predators and Los Angeles Kings.

“I liked our consistency from start to finish,” Kraken coach Lane Lambert said. “It was good that we got the puck in the net. We talked about shooting mentality. I still think we can do it better. … If you look at the first two goals, we had traffic (net front) and that’s how we need to score.”

The Hurricanes, who are on a 5-game winning streak and 12 consecutive points (10-0-2), are ranked 1st in the Metropolitan Division and 1st in the entire Eastern Conference with 82 points.

The Hurricanes are scheduled to embark on a four-game trip over six days, visiting Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary.

They’ll be coming off a 5-2 win over visiting Detroit on Saturday. Taylor Hall and Shayne Gostisbehere each had a goal and two assists in the win.

“There were some sections where we took our foot off the gas and it didn’t look that good, but overall I thought the D played really well,” Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour said.

This match is the second and final match between the teams in the regular season. Carolina scored twice in the final 10 minutes to win 3-2 on Jan. 10 in Raleigh, North Carolina, snapping Seattle’s 10-game point streak (8-0-2).
