This comes as the San Francisco-based company is at the receiving end of the Indian government over the issue of banning and unblocking some of its Twitter handles related to farmers’ protests.
Sources said the CEO — who continues to hold talks with the government — Mahima Kaul’s resignation is unrelated to the latest controversy.
“Earlier this year, Mayma Kaul decided to step down from her role as Twitter’s head of public policy for India and South Asia to take a well-deserved break. This is a loss for all of us at Twitter, but after more than five years in the role, we respect her desire to focus on the people and relationships that matter most in her personal life,” Monique Michie, Twitter’s vice president of public policy, said in a statement. Kaul will continue in his role until the end of March and support the transition, Mitch added.

We focus on addressing issues such as the open internet, freedom of expression, privacy, online safety, net neutrality, and data protection to advance the interests of Twitter and our customers.
