The Cubs’ 2016 World Series MVP will receive a $50,000 prize.


Die-hard Chicago Cubs fans will quickly remember the Most Valuable Player of the 2016 World Series. Utility player Ben Zobrist hit .357 in seven games for the Cubs against Cleveland, their first win in 108 years.

Few people remember the World Series MVP award winner receiving the award from MLB from title sponsor Chevrolet.

Go through your memory and find your wallet. Zobrist is giving away a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 50th Anniversary Edition Convertible as the grand prize winner in a sweepstakes to benefit the Champion Forward charity.

Champions Forward is a non-profit organization that “helps teen athletes, parents, and coaches experience sports in a mentally and emotionally healthy way,” according to its Instagram account.

The car’s value is listed at $50,000. The winner also receives $15,000.

Zobrist helped the Kansas City Royals end their 2014 championship drought and signed with the Cubs as a free agent in December 2015. He made the National League All-Star team (the last of his career) before leading the Cubs to the World Series.

Zobrist previously spent three more years in Chicago. Retirement in March 2020 He had a career batting average of .266, on-base percentage of .357 and slugging percentage of .426 with the Tampa Bay Rays, Oakland A’s, Royals and Cubs. He saw time at every position on the field except catcher.
