The 6-foot-8 veteran defenseman was traded to the Dallas Stars on Wednesday, the team announced.
Vancouver will keep half of Myers’ contract and receive second- and fourth-round picks in return.
“We want to thank Tyler for all he has done for the Canucks organization both on and off the ice,” general manager Patrick Alvin said in a statement released by the team. “Not only has he been a leader in our locker room, but he has done many great things in the community. We are also grateful to Tyler and his agent for working with us to make this deal happen. Acquiring two more draft picks in this trade with the Stars will help us continue to rebuild and improve our roster for years to come.”
The 36-year-old is currently in the second season of a three-year, $9 million contract.
In 57 games this season, Myers has one goal and seven assists.
Drafted 12th overall by the Sabers in 2008, Myers has appeared in 1,123 career NHL games with Buffalo, Vancouver and the Winnipeg Jets, scoring 403 points (100 goals, 303 assists).

Additional information
He hasn’t played in a recent game, anticipating a move from the Canucks, who are 10 points last in the NHL and will be in solid sell mode after trading away fellow blueliner Quinn Hughes.
Myers has a no-move clause as part of his contract, meaning he would have to approve any trade.
He picked a Stars team that was on a 10-game winning streak and locked in a hotly contested Central Division race. They were 6 points away from first place Colorado Avalanche and 3 points away from third place Minnesota Wild.
This trio also features three of the top four teams in the league standings.

Canucks players said Myers would be sidelined after last week’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets.
“He’s been a valuable part of this team for a long time, especially in a tie game like that, he’s the guy you want on the ice,” winger Drew O’Connor said. “And he’s a leader and he’s very vocal, so it’s definitely noticeable when he’s not there.”
Coach Adam Foote said he really enjoyed coaching the big defender.
“He’s a great guy, a great guy, a good human being,” he said.
“It seems like every year you lose a favorite, and that’s part of the game. If you play long enough, that’s going to keep happening over the years. And you know, it’s part of the game.”
