Jimmy Snuggerud added two goals to add momentum and the St. Louis Blues won their fifth straight road game, beating the Carolina Hurricanes 3-1 on Thursday night in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Snuggerud’s go-ahead goal came with 4 minutes, 48 seconds left and Pavel Buchnevich added an empty-net goal in the final minute. Dylan Holloway assisted on both goals. Jordan Binnington made 31 saves to earn back-to-back decision wins for the second time this season and the first since October.

Snuggerud has five goals and four assists in four games.

The Hurricanes’ home ice point streak ended at 12 despite a goal by Mark Jankowski. Rookie goaltender Brandon Bush, who stopped 14 shots, suffered his first consecutive losses, dropping his record to 25-5-1.

Carolina’s Sebastian Aho had a brief scoring opportunity in the third period when the Blues went on their first power play, but Binnington made a great save to keep the score tied.

Later, when the Blues kept the puck in the zone, Snuggerud was in position to fire the winning shot from close range off a short pass from Holloway that came from behind the net.

Jankowski opened the scoring with a secondary goal 8:38 into the game, skating from the center stripe and finding the edge along the right side to beat Binnington. Jankowski scored in back-to-back games for the first time this season.

That was the only time the Hurricanes had a 13-2 edge in shots in the first period.

Snuggerud pulled the Blues back with 3:53 left in the second period.

The Blues had another chance to score shortly after a Carolina turnover, but Jack Finley skated over Bussi and fired wide.

St. Louis defeated the Hurricanes 3-0 at home on Jan. 13, holding Eastern Conference-leading Carolina to just one goal in 120 minutes of the season.
