Texas had its best performance after halftime and cruised to a 76-70 win over Texas A&M in a key Southeastern Conference game Saturday afternoon in College Station, Texas.
The Aggies took a one-point lead after a back-and-forth first half, and Texas took the lead just over two minutes after halftime. Texas (18-11, 9-7 SEC) led by as many as 11 points and took a 63-56 lead when Mark poured in a 3-pointer with 4 minutes, 16 seconds remaining.
With 2:47 remaining, Mark’s two free throws increased the Longhorns’ lead to nine points, their largest score of the game at the time. Texas maintained its lead over its longtime rival and split the season series with the Aggies, ending a two-game losing streak.
Jordan Pope added 17 points for the Longhorns, Matas Bokietatis had 14 points and Dalylin Swain had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Rashaun Agee led A&M (19-10, 9-7) with 22 points. Marcus Hill added 17 points and Pop Issacs had 14 for the Aggies. The Aggies went more than five minutes without a field goal in back-to-back games and shot just 38.3 percent from the floor.

Texas built a 10-3 lead in the opening minutes, holding the Aggies without a field goal for the first 4 minutes and 39 seconds of the game. Agee ended A&M’s stunner, hitting a 3-pointer against an expiring shot clock to bring the home team within four points.
The Longhorns extended the lead to 16-8 after Chendall Weaver hit a steal and a 3-pointer with 13:05 to play. A&M went on an 11-0 run to take the lead for the first time on a Ruben Dominguez free throw with 5:43 left in the half for a 24-20 lead.
Vokietaitis’ tip-in put Texas ahead 29-28 with 3:13 remaining. Agee countered with a bank hook shot with 50 seconds left to give the Aggies a 30-29 advantage after an unstructured first half for both teams.
Agee led all scorers with 14 points by halftime, while Swain paced Texas with 11 points.
