Mandatory Credit: Geoff Burke-Imagn Image Immanuel Quickley had 27 points and 11 assists on Saturday, helping the visiting Toronto Raptors to a 134-125 win over the Washington Wizards.
Brandon Ingram added 24 points and RJ Barrett had 21 for Toronto, which has fallen for the second straight game. The Raptors shot a hot 71.4% as Jakob Poeltl totaled 18 points and 10 rebounds and Scottie Barnes scored 18 points, scoring 73 of his points in the second half. Toronto had a 60% field goal percentage in this game.
Will Riley led Washington with 19 points, followed by Bilal Coulibaly and Keyonte George with 14 points each. Tristan Vukcevic added 13, while Carlton Carrington and Justin Champagnie each added 12. The Wizards made 16 of 34 3-point attempts, but dropped four straight and shot 47.9% overall.
Toronto, which trailed by 13 points at halftime, took its first lead since the opener when Barrett’s layup gave the Raptors a 75-74 advantage with 7:53 left in the third.
Ingram’s 3-pointer extended the lead to six points with 4:23 remaining.
Poeltl capped the scoring in the quarter with a layup to give the Raptors a 98-92 lead entering the fourth.
Toronto took a double-digit lead for the first time on baskets by Barnes and Quickley to start the final quarter. Barrett’s 3-pointer increased the lead to 13 points.
Jamal Shead hit a triple with 3:40 to play to put Toronto ahead 129-116.
Washington went on a 7-0 run to take a 33-20 lead on Anthony Gill’s hook shot with 1 minute and 40 seconds left in the first quarter. Ja’Kobe Walter’s 3-pointer cut the Raptors’ deficit to eight points in the second quarter.
The Wizards made their ninth 3-pointer less than two minutes into the second quarter after Jamir Watkins’ trey extended the lead to 41-29.
Toronto cut the deficit to 54-50 with Sandro Mamukherashvili’s 3-pointer, and fought back with George’s 3-pointer and Gill’s layup to create a 9-point cushion with 3 minutes and 9 seconds left in the halftime.
Koulibaly’s mid-range jumper gave Washington a 64-61 lead at halftime. Ingram led all scorers with 13 points and Coulibaly had 11 for the Wizards.
