Boston’s pitching dominated the first half and the Red Sox cruised to a 7-5 victory over the Tampa Bay Base on Thursday in Fort Myers, Florida.

The Rays fell behind 7-0 in the fourth inning, but tied the game in the ninth following Marshall Toole’s RBI triple.

Red Sox left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet started and pitched two scoreless innings, Aroldis Chapman struck out in the third inning, and right-handed pitcher Greg Weissert cruised into the fourth inning to get the win.

Boston scored all seven of its runs in the fourth inning, but no earned runs were recorded before TJ Nichols retired after getting only two outs. The Red Sox rally began when third baseman Andrew Monasterio blocked an error by second baseman Ben Williamson, which led to Caleb Durbin scoring and Christian Campbell advancing to second base.

Red Sox right-hander Devin Sweet earned the save in the ninth inning, allowing two hits, one run, and striking out two.

Toole had a pair of hits for the Rays. Shortstop Trevor Story scored twice in a seven-run fourth inning for the Red Sox.
