SMU looks to complete its trip out West on a high note when it visits Stanford for an Atlantic Coast Conference battle Saturday afternoon.

This is the first meeting of the season between ACC rivals. They split the 2025 season series, with each team winning on their home court. In the most recent game, Stanford won 73-68, scoring 45 points in the first half. SMU won the previous matchup 85-61 last season.

The Mustangs (19-9, 8-7 ACC) had won four of five games prior to their two-game road trip to Golden State, but faltered in a 73-69 loss to Cal on Wednesday. SMU led 67-64 with less than two minutes remaining, but Justin Pippen and the Golden Bears came back to win.

Corey Washington scored 15 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and shot 50 percent. Boopie Miller had 15 points and a team-high four assists in the loss.

SMU outscored Cal from the field and beyond the arc, but shot just 42.3% from the charity stripe.

“We missed 15 free throws and beat ourselves tonight,” SMU coach Andy Enfield said.

Meanwhile, the Cardinal (17-11, 6-9) ended a two-game skid. Stanford fell 68-63 to Wake Forest on the road and 72-66 to Cal before returning home to beat Pitt 75-67.

Stanford was 10 of 10 from the free throw line and only turned the ball over nine times in the win. Ebuka Okorie led the way with 34 points, six rebounds and six assists, shooting a perfect 3-for-6 on 3-pointers and 9-for-9 from the free throw line. Benny Gealer added 12 points and AJ Rohosy had a team-leading eight rebounds.

“It was a big win for our program,” Stanford coach Kyle Smith said. “It’s just a testament to this league, that a team that struggles to win like (us) had a little tough time… (Pitt) got down 7 in the second half and (we) couldn’t stop them. We finally got a couple of stops, and then Ebuka took complete control of the game. It’s good to have a guy like that, but it’s a big win for us.”
