The NHL trade deadline took place on Friday. The United States won the gold medal in men’s hockey at the Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo 2026 Winter Olympics, making the United States the best hockey nation in the world.
Here are six American players traded at the deadline.
Bobby Brink

Brink, a right fielder from Minnetonka, Minnesota, was traded from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Minnesota Wild for defenseman David Jiricek. The right winger has 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points for the Wild this season.
john carlson

The veteran defenseman from Natick, Mass., was traded from the Washington Capitals to the Anaheim Ducks for a conditional 2026 first-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick. The two-time NHL All-Star has 10 goals and 36 assists for 46 points in 55 games with the Capitals.
Carlson spent the last 17 seasons (1,143 games) in Washington. He was a member of the Capitals team that won the 2018 Stanley Cup.

Faulk, a defenseman from South St. Paul, Minnesota, was traded from the St. Louis Blues to the Detroit Red Wings for Justin Hall, Dmitry Vuchelnikov and two draft picks (a 2026 first-round pick and a third-round pick) in the 2026 NHL Draft.
A three-time NHL All-Star, he played 15 seasons in the NHL (eight with Carolina and seven with St. Louis). This season for the Blues, he has 11 goals, 21 assists and 32 points in 61 games.
Nick Foligno

Foligno, a left fielder from Buffalo, New York, was traded from the Chicago Blackhawks to the Minnesota Wild for future considerations. With the Blackhawks this season, Foligno has three goals and eight assists for 11 points in 37 games.
The Wild are Foligno’s sixth team, having previously played for the Ottawa Senators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks. He was an All-Star for the Blue Jackets in 2015.

Garland, a right fielder from Scituate, Massachusetts, was traded from the Vancouver Canucks to the Columbus Blue Jackets for a 2026 third-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick.
The Blue Jackets are Garland’s third NHL team after spending three seasons with the Arizona Coyotes and five with the Canucks. In 50 games with the Canucks this season, Garland has seven goals and 19 assists for 26 points.
Vincent Hinostroza

Hinostroza, a center from Chicago, Illinois, was traded from the Minnesota Wild to the Florida Panthers for future considerations. In 48 games with the Wild, he has three goals and seven assists for 10 points.
This is Hinostroza’s second time with the Panthers. He played in nine games for Florida in 2020-21.
