Goaltender Linus Ullmark made 17 saves for Ottawa.

Jacob Melanson, Eeli Tolvanen, Matty Beniers and Brandon Montour scored and Jordan Eberle had two assists for shorthanded Seattle, which fell to 2-2-0 on a six-game homestand. Joey Daccord stopped 29 of 36 shots.

The Kraken’s fourth line opened the scoring with a 3-on-2 rush at 8:45 of the first period. Ullmark blocked Ben Meyers’ initial shot, but was tapped on the back by Senators defenseman Jordan Spence. Melanson lifted the rebound past the goalkeeper.

The Senators scored the next four goals.

Kleven scored on a one-timer from the slot at 9:19 and Cozens scored on a wrister from a right faceoff dot at 13:55 to make it 2-1 after the first period.

The Senators extended their lead at 1:34 of the second when Daccord made a blocker save but the rebound deflected off Pinto’s body and into the net.

A wide open Amadio took a pass in the back of the net in the low slot and beat Daccord to make it 4-1 at 10:09.

The Kraken pulled within 4-2 at 15:00 when Tolvanen’s blast from the top of the right faceoff circle beat a screened Ullmark.

The Senators scored three goals in a span of 4 minutes and 42 seconds in the top of the third.

Foegele, making his Ottawa debut after being acquired from Los Angeles on Thursday, scored from the high slot at 2:42. Stutzle extended his scoring streak to 12 games with a wrister from the left faceoff circle at 3:58, and Tkachuk scored from nearly the same spot at 7:24.

Beniers followed with a tip-in at 10:16 and Montour scored on a two-man advantage at 17:45.

There was a scary moment in the last minute of the first period when Tolvanen checked Cousins in front of the Kraken bench. When Cousins lost his balance, his right leg rose and the blade of his skate struck Seattle’s Jaden Schwartz in the face, drawing blood. Schwartz was cared for and helped by trainers on the ice and went straight to the locker room. Schwartz did not return.

The Kraken were also without forward Frederick Gaudreau and defenseman Ryan Lindgren, both of whom were scratched due to illness sweeping through the locker room.
