San Diego FC will look to maintain its perfect start to the MLS season when it visits FC Dallas on Saturday.

San Diego FC, one of four clubs with a 3-0-0 record, sits atop the league standings due to a goal difference tiebreaker. San Diego has scored eight goals and has yet to give up a goal in MLS play.

San Diego achieved good results despite a busy schedule, including participating in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Saturday’s game against Dallas is sandwiched between two knockout-round ties against San Diego and Mexican side Toluca, with the second taking place on Wednesday.

In the first leg last Wednesday, San Diego FC won 3-2 at home despite having two players (Marcus Ingvarsen and Manu Dua) sent off.

Striker Lewis Morgan said: “It was a challenge we accepted… and really showed the resolve. It was almost a good thing that happened for us because we got to show that side of ourselves.”

Ingvartsen and Anders Dreyer led San Diego with a pair of goals each in MLS play.

FC Dallas is 1-1-1 with four points and has yet to score since opening the season with a 3-2 win over Toronto FC. The Toros have had 26 shots on goal in their last two games, but have had just seven on target.

Defender Sebastien Ibeagha told the FC Dallas Agenda podcast that the positive thing from last Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Los Angeles FC was that “we showed that we can have our own tactics and execute them the way we want.”

“Whatever our tactics are (against San Diego), we have to be extremely disciplined because they are a very dangerous team,” Ibeagha said. “And if we are late to press or late to arrive to intercept a pass, they will find the passing lane and they have shown to punish teams.”

Seven of FC Dallas’ first nine games will be played at home, giving the club an early opportunity to improve its home form. Only eight teams had fewer home points than Dallas last season, as the Toros were held to a modest 22 points on a 6-8-3 record from their own field.

San Diego won both meetings in 2025, beating Dallas 8-2.
