Sable Offshore Corporation (NYSE:SOC) is one of them 10 stocks investors are watching closely this week.
Sable Offshore skyrocketed 74 percent on the week, as investors placed bets after an executive branch opinion confirming that President Donald Trump could repeal controversial federal laws that prevent the listed company from fully operating the California pipeline system.
Thomas Elliot Geiser, deputy attorney general for the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel, said the president’s order could override California laws that currently prevent Sable Offshore Corp. (NYSE:SOC) from fully operating the Las Flores offshore pipeline.

Operations at its onshore unit, Santa Ynez, already began in May, but Sable Offshore Corp. (NYSE:SOC) is unable to sell hydrocarbons through its Las Flores unit or wait for court approval.
He said: “We conclude that this (presidential order) would be. An order issued by Congress as an exercise of delegated authority or the President’s constitutional powers has the force of federal law under the superseding clause and may conflict with state law.”
“Because the DPA (Defense Production Act) authorizes the president to order certain actions that would otherwise be prohibited by state law, an order issued pursuant to the DPA can expressly or implicitly circumvent those laws.” He noted.
This statement from Sable Offshore Corp. ( NYSE:SOC ) has sparked renewed optimism and buying appetite, which has struggled to revive the pipeline for 10 years since it was ordered shut down in June 2015 after a leak caused a major oil spill.
