Richard Kahn, Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime accountant, testified for roughly six hours Wednesday before the House Oversight Committee as part of Epstein’s investigation.
Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said Kahn named five people who paid Epstein, “and they are Les Wexner, Glenn Dubin, Steven Sinofsky, the Rothschilds and Leon Black.”
Comer noted that the committee had questioned Wexner in the past and that “very soon” Blacks would be ousted. Kahn has not been named by authorities in relation to Epstein’s allegations of wrongdoing.
Asked about Kahn’s comments today, Black’s spokeswoman pointed to a law firm report that cited Black’s payments to Epstein from 2021.
“As documented in the independent Dechert report, the investigation heard by Mr. Black indicates that he paid Epstein for tax and estate planning work and had no knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activity,” Whitt Clay said in an email.
Dubin’s spokesman, Devon Spurgeon, denied that he had ever paid Epstein, adding that Dubin was “not his client in any way.” Spurgeon said Epstein was Dubin’s investor and client, and Dubin, “never, never, never paid anything.”
Sinofsky declined to comment. Representatives for Wexner and the Rothschilds did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Rep. Rep. Suhas Subrahmanyam, D-Va., described Kahn as a “fixer” and said Epstein’s crimes were deeply intertwined with his own finances. They said Kahn’s name appeared in shell companies used to transport money, including tuition and payments to victims.
Rep. Rep. James Walkinshaw, D-Va., said Epstein’s smuggling operation “would not have been possible without Richard Kahn.” Walkinshaw said he did not find it credible that Kahn had any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes, arguing that if Kahn did not know, he was “willfully ignorant.”
Subrahmanyam told reporters, referring to Kahn’s testimony, that “a person who was an accuser of Donald Trump was paid out of the estate of Jeffrey Epstein.”
A spokesman for Kahn did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday evening.
Comer, meanwhile, told reporters that Kahn testified that he had never seen transactions with Epstein involving Trump or his family.
Officials have alleged that Trump did nothing wrong with Epstein.
