Reimer’s shutout helps Senators beat Canucks

The result was the veteran goalie’s first shutout of the season and 32nd of his career, and his first start since February 5.

Ridley Greig scored midway through the second quarter, taking a pass from Shane Pinto at the bottom of the faceoff circle, moving the puck to his forehand and firing a shot to give the Senators (32-22-9) the lead.

The Canucks (19-37-8) challenged the play for a missed stoppage, saying Pinto made a hand pass before the goal, but the call was upheld after a video review.

Brady Tkachuk added an empty-net goal with 1:20 left on the game clock, extending his point streak to seven games (three goals, four assists).

Kevin Lankinen made 22 saves for Vancouver, which opened an eight-game homestand.

Ottawa has now had points in seven straight games (5-0-2) and 11 of their last 12 (9-1-2).

Senators: Reimer improved to 4-3-1 on the season and earned his first shutout since April 8, 2025, when he was a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 37-year-old goalie signed with Ottawa as a free agent on Jan. 12. Defenseman Jake Sanderson was without defenseman Jake Sanderson for Saturday’s 7-4 win over the Seattle Kraken with an upper-body injury. Coach Travis Green said Monday morning that the 23-year-old is available “every week.”

Vancouver center Teddy Blueger slipped a pass to Max Sasson in the slot, and Sasson slid in and fired a shot from the top of the crease, only to see Reimer take it off his shoulder and glove it to keep the Canucks on the board with 6:24 to play in the second period.

Senators center Tim Stutzle assisted on Tkachuk’s goal, extending his point streak to 13 games with eight goals and nine assists.

Senators: Visit the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday.

Canucks: Host the Nashville Predators on Thursday.
