Mandatory Credit: Ken Blaze-Imagn Images Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung is expected to miss at least 10 days or more after being diagnosed with an adductor strain.
The disease was discovered through an MRI scan. Hyun Chung was left out of the lineup ahead of Thursday’s game.
Rangers manager Skip Schumacher hopes the injury will keep Jung out of baseball for much longer.
“The thing about Josh is that he works really hard,” Schumacher told reporters Saturday. “I think he’ll be back sooner than 14 days. His process has been so good. I have a feeling his work in the cage, his work in the backfield and his life on the field will translate soon.”
“The first two games, he hit the ball harder than anyone. I thought he was going in the right direction. Honestly, if something was happening, it was better than happening now.”
Jeong (28) had a disappointing season for the second straight year, recording a batting average of 0.251, 14 home runs, and 61 RBI in 131 games in 2025.
Hyun Chung was selected as an All-Star as a rookie in 2023 when the Rangers won the World Series. He hit .266 with 23 home runs and 70 RBIs in 122 regular season games and finished fourth in American League Rookie of the Year voting.
Hyun Chung recorded a batting average of .308, 3 home runs, and 8 RBIs in 17 postseason games in 2023. He batted .350 in five World Series games.
Infielder Justin Forsk (right hamstring injury) is also expected to miss at least 10 days, but Schumacher said this will not affect team composition. Forceke, a 2020 first-round pick, went 3-for-51 (.059) in 19 games over the past two seasons.
“Nothing will change his chances,” Schumaker said of Foscue, who turns 27 on Monday. “He’s going to lose at-bats. It’s unfortunate for him, but I think he still has four weeks to go, whether he breaks camp or whatever. He’s still got two weeks left in camp to work on his skills. He’s got to get more at-bats.”
