Quinn Priester dealing with nerve issues

Brewers Starter queen priest I saw a specialist this afternoon after nagging wrist pain. Tests showed the right-hander was suffering from a nerve issue in his shoulder. Manager Pat Murphy told reporters (links via Curt Hogg of The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel and Adam McCalvy of MLB.com).

Murphy said the injuries were in the “thoracic outlet syndrome family.” The mention of TOS is concerning, considering how difficult it can be for some pitchers to overcome. The Brewers are still mostly downplaying their level of concern. Murphy expressed confidence that Priester would be able to rehabilitate without surgery. He is continuing his light throwing program and has a bullpen session scheduled for next weekend.

Nerve compression explains the recurrent nature of Priester’s injuries. He first felt discomfort in his wrist in the second half of last season. He didn’t expect it to be an issue this spring, but he battled it intermittently during his preparation. Although it has its roots in the shoulder, nerve pain may appear throughout the arm. Max ScherzerFor example, between 2024 and 2025, most suffered a brachial nerve injury that presented as thumb pain.

It was already clear that Priester would start the season on the injured list. This diagnosis does not inherently mean that he will have to miss school for long periods of time. But this highlights that his recovery timeline is open. Brandon Woodruff, Jacob Misiorowski and Chad Patrick Assuming Woodruff fully recovers from last year’s debilitating strain, he is expected to start the season among Milwaukee’s top three starters. Brandon Sprott and Kyle Harrison A group can be finalized if: Logan Henderson’s Minor elbow discomfort delayed opening day schedule.

Murphy also provided an update on the depth outfield. Akhil BaduI suffered a left quadriceps strain this week. The injury is more serious than the Brewers originally expected. It will be several weeks before Baddoo can resume baseball action. He will obviously start the season on the injured list and could be a candidate for the 60-day IL. Baddoo wasn’t in the running for an Opening Day roster spot, but the Brewers liked him enough to sign him to a big league split contract during the offseason.
