Qatar says Iran failed to notify it of impending missile strikes as Tehran carries out a Gulf-wide retaliation campaign sparked by US and Israeli strikes on Iran.
Qatar is one of 12 countries Iran has attacked in the Middle East, and Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said at a news conference on Tuesday that Iranian targets were not limited to military sites but included the entire territory of Qatar, adding that there were no communications with authorities in Tehran.

“Qatar was shocked by these unjustified attacks,” he told reporters.
Al-Ansari said Qatar’s military thwarted attacks on Hamad International Airport in Doha as Iran continued its attacks for the fourth consecutive day after the launch of the US-Israel war on Saturday.
“There were attempts to attack Hamad International Airport. They were all foiled… The missiles were shot down by our defensive measures and none of them reached the airport,” al-Ansari said. The spokesman said nearly 8,000 people were stranded in Qatar due to the war-induced closure of airspace.
Additionally, al-Ansari noted that Iranian planes were shot down on Monday after entering Qatari airspace despite being warned.
They were heading to Doha before they were attacked and authorities are still searching for their crews, he added, without giving further details.
Al-Ansari said the Iranian ambassador to Qatar was summoned to the Foreign Ministry and told that the attacks could lead to a “deterioration” of relations between the two countries.
QatarEnergy to stop downstream production
After suspending production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) on Monday, QatarEnergy decided to stop production of associated products.
“QatarEnergy is halting production of some downstream products in the State of Qatar, including urea, polymers, methanol, aluminum and other products,” the company announced Tuesday.
On Monday, the company ceased production of LNG and associated products at facilities in Ras Laffan Industrial City and Mesaieed Industrial City due to “military attacks.”
There have been several explosions in Qatar in recent days, and its Defense Ministry said it had detected the launch of three cruise missiles, 101 ballistic missiles and 39 suicide drones into its airspace since Saturday.
