Plastic Ingenuity, a North American custom thermoforming company, has acquired Speedy Pack, a thermoforming business based near Dresden, Germany.
The acquisition allows Plastic Intelligence to begin manufacturing packaging for medical devices and pharmaceuticals in Europe, with the aim of simplifying operations for its customers in the region.
Spezi-Pack brings almost 40 years of experience in the sector.
Former Speedy Pack President Dirk Walters will continue to lead the German operation, which is running smoothly.
Investments are planned for these facilities to strengthen healthcare packaging capabilities.
Upgrades will include a new ISO Class 7 cleanroom and additional thermoforming lines.
Expanded medical and pharmaceutical packaging capacity will be in place by 2027.

Plastic Intelligence provides packaging in the food, healthcare, and consumer goods industries.
Its quality inspections include material thickness, flatness, clarity, trim centering, snap strength, dimensional accuracy (using CMM or 2D vision systems), cell integrity testing (such as peel strength and burst tests), tensile stress analysis, and surface inspection for the presence of burrs and scratches.
