U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Tuesday that today will be the “most intense” of the strikes against Iran and that the United States is “decisively winning with brutal efficiency” as the war in West Asia escalates with the U.S. military launch of Operation Epic Fury against Tehran.
At the Pentagon news conference on the US military operation, Hegseth said: “We remain focused on the objective” and that Washington is “decisively winning with brutal efficiency, total air dominance and an unwavering will to achieve the president’s objectives.”
Reiterating Trump’s earlier comments, Hegseth said they are relentlessly “crushing the enemy.” “Today will once again be our most intense day of attacks inside Iran. The most fighters, the most bombers, the most strikes. The intelligence is more refined and better than ever,” he added.

Speaking about the length of the war, Hegseth said the United States will end the war with Iran “on our timeline” and that it is not an “endless or protracted” war. He added that Washington will not relent in its war against Iran until “the enemy is totally and decisively defeated.”

2. Hegseth’s warning to Iran’s new supreme leader
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned Iran’s newly elected Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei that he should “heed the words” of President Donald Trump and “not pursue nuclear weapons.”
“Iran’s new leader would be wise to heed our president’s words, which is not to pursue nuclear weapons and declare it as such,” Hegseth added.

Hegseth was asked about reports suggesting Mojtaba may have been injured in attacks on Iran, the defense secretary said he could not comment. cnn reported.
3. Hegseth warns Russia not to get involved in war with Iran
During the Pentagon press briefing, Hegsteh also warned Russia not to get involved in the US-Israeli attack on Iran, after earlier reports suggested Moscow was aiding Iran’s war efforts by providing intelligence on US military targets.
Hegseth’s comments came after reporters asked him about President Trump’s call with Russia’s Vladimir Putin today. The defense secretary described the conversation as a “strong call,” which he hoped would ensure “a chance for some peace” in Russia’s war with Ukraine.
