A day before playing in his first World Baseball Classic exhibition with Team USA, former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw hobnobbed with Pat McAfee during a live broadcast on ESPN.
Afterwards, McAfee sent Kershaw a seven-word message on Instagram saying, βThank you for your contribution to sports.β
more: ESPN: The Dodgers have six of the top 50 players in MLB, and their No. 1 ranking is no surprise.
Kershaw made his WBC debut as an American on Wednesday in an exhibition game against the Colorado Rockies in Arizona. He allowed a home run to the first batter he faced, Mickey Moniak, with an 87 mph fastball.
Kershaw officially retired from MLB after the Dodgers won the 2025 World Series. Kershaw pitched one scoreless game as the Dodgers won their seventh straight game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
It was somewhat surprising that Kershaw signed as the first WBC pitcher at age 37, but he made it clear that this was a one-time event and not a stepping stone to a return to baseball.
