OpenAI today released GPT-5.3 Instant to all ChatGPT users, introducing a new version of its most popular conversational model designed to deliver more accurate responses and smoother everyday interactions.
The model is now available across ChatGPT on web, mobile and desktop, replacing the previous GPT-5.2 Instant model for most users.
According to OpenAI, the update focuses on improving conversation flow, response consistency, and overall usability. The company said the model provides more accurate answers, generates better synthesized responses when using web information, and reduces overly cautious language that can disrupt conversations.
One of the main changes is the improvement of the sentence on rejection. OpenAI said that GPT-5.2 Instant sometimes rejects questions that it can safely answer or respond with defensive denials. GPT-5.3 Instant reduces unnecessary rejection and cuts down on overly cautious introductions so that responses are more direct.
The model also improves how ChatGPT aggregates web search results. Instead of listing links or loosely linked information, GPT-5.3 Instant is designed to combine web data with its own knowledge to create more relevant and contextual responses.
The update also improves write performance. OpenAI said that GPT-5.3 Instant provides more natural and expressive writing while maintaining clarity between practical tasks and creative content.
GPT-5.3 Instant is immediately available to all ChatGPT users and developers via the API model name gpt-5.3-chat-latest.
The old GPT-5.2 Instant model will be available to paid users for three months before retiring the old model on June 3, 2026.
