Olympic hero Jack Hughes recorded his fourth career hat trick and second of the season to lead the New Jersey Devils to a 6-3 win over the New York Rangers on Saturday in Newark, New Jersey.

Hughes, who also had an assist, scored one of the Devils’ three power-play goals before converting a breakaway with 3:04 left in the third period. He completed his hat trick by scoring into an empty net with 32 seconds left. New Jersey’s Jesper Bratt had a goal and two assists, while captain Nico Hischier and Dawson Mercer also scored.

Jacob Markstrom went 3-for-3 on the power play and made 17 saves for the Devils, who have won their fourth straight game.

New York’s Will Cuylle scored his third goal in two games, defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov scored for the third straight game and fellow blueliner Will Borgen also scored. Jonathan Quick gave up 29 shots for the Rangers, who reside in the basement of the Eastern Conference and have lost 15 of their last 19 games (4-12-3).

Bruins 3, Capitals 1

Viktor Arvidsson scored the game-winning goal at 4:28 of the third period to give Boston a trip to Washington for the Bruins’ 12th straight home win.
