New York Giants move on from star defenseman

The NFL’s new league year is approaching and teams are making difficult decisions. Some of these decisions include retaining players through contract extensions or moving players.

The New York Giants are set to make several moves for their 2026 roster. This may include moving away from some stars.

The Giants will reportedly move on from 2022 first-round pick Kayvon Thibodeaux. The star pass rusher is in the final year of his rookie contract.

The Giants picked up Thibodeaux’s option last offseason. However, his draft status did not live up to the organization’s expectations.

Thibodeaux recorded just 2.5 sacks in 10 games last season. He looked like he would have a breakout season in 2023, but has been inconsistent since.

Much of this could be because the Giants simply aren’t a well-coached team. No one can succeed because there is no clear identity on either side of the ball.

Thibodeaux exudes the size, talent and pedigree that NFL teams want in a star pass rusher. Perhaps changing things might be in his best interest.

Thibodeau is only 25 years old and he still has a lot of football left in him. If he can get into the right situation to capitalize on his potential, he could reignite his career.
