Nasdaq partners with Boerse Stuttgart Group’s Seturion to promote securities settlement in Europe

Nasdaq will connect its European markets to Seturion, a pan-European blockchain settlement platform for tokenized assets operated by Boerse Stuttgart Group, to improve settlement efficiency and reduce fragmentation, the company said on Monday.

The initiative aims to modernize the post-trade infrastructure, improve efficiency and accelerate the adoption of tokenized securities across Europe.

With an initial focus on structured products, the partnership will facilitate faster, cheaper and more seamless settlements, while supporting compliance with European regulations such as MiFID II and the DLT Pilot Regime.

According to Nasdaq’s Roland Chai, Europe’s financial markets are struggling with fragmentation and operational inefficiencies that are undermining the region’s potential. He said tokenization offers a way to improve settlement and securities processes while maintaining regulatory rigor and market stability.

“This partnership builds on our broader vision for the future of market infrastructure, which includes seamless operations across trading, clearing, settlement, risk management and collateral,” said Chai.

Launched in September 2025, Seturion provides a single settlement solution for the European post-trade ecosystem, enabling fast and cost-effective transactions for all asset classes on public and private blockchains, as well as cash settlements using central bank money and on-chain cash.

Its open architecture has been tested in ECB blockchain trials, and Boerse Stuttgart venues such as BX Digital act as early customers.

Dr. Matthias Voelkel, CEO of Boerse Stuttgart Group, described Nasdaq as “the absolute leader in its field” and the first partner to join the Seturion network. The platform is an attempt to break down what Voelkel described as the “national infrastructure silos” that have hindered the implementation of a single European capital market.

Nasdaq also unveiled plans this morning to launch a stock ticker framework to modernize share ownership, investor engagement and trading infrastructure.

Working with Payward, Kraken’s parent company, the exchange connects traditional exchanges and blockchain networks, ensuring full legal equality, issuer control and global market access.
