Roman Celentano finished the game with four saves for FC Cincinnati (1-1-0, 3 points).
Yeboah, who scored the equalizer in the 90th minute of Minnesota’s 2-2 draw with Austin FC in the season opener, rebounded Thomas Shankalay’s free kick from the top left corner of the penalty box and headed it to decide the game. Chancalay’s shot hit the far right post and into the center of the box before Yeboah headed home a hard shot.
The score was settled when a free kick was awarded after Cincinnati’s Gerardo Valenzuela tripped Joaquin Pereyra just inches outside the box.
Cincinnati, who opened the season by beating Atlanta United 2-0, five minutes later, Obina Nwobodo, who was heading toward the right corner of the goal, attempted a curved left-footed shot from the center of the penalty box, but Callender made a diving one-arm save and it went wide of the goal.
In the 83rd minute, Chancalay had a chance to extend the lead by breaking through, but Celentano deflected a left-footed shot from the left side of the penalty box with both hands and hit the top right corner of the goal.
Minnesota United (1-1-0, 4 points) rose to first place in the Western Conference with the win. Star striker James Rodriguez, who won the Golden Boot for Colombia at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, suited up but failed to make his Luons debut.
The temperature at kickoff was 20 degrees and it felt like 11 degrees, making it the coldest game in Cincinnati team history.
