Michael Misa scored at 1:40 of overtime and the San Jose Sharks earned a 2-1 win over the visiting Winnipeg Jets on Sunday.

Misa carried the puck up the middle, split the defense, veered left and fired a wrist shot to the short side of Connor Hellebuyck’s blocker.

Will Smith also scored and Alex Nedeljkovic made 27 saves for the Sharks, who have won their second straight game after a five-game skid.

Morgan Barron scored and Hellebuyck made 31 saves for the Jets, who have lost 4 of 5 (1-1-3).

San Jose, which had a sluggish offense in the second period, came out with a jump in the third period. Hellebuyck denied Philipp Kurashev on a breakaway with 43 seconds into the frame, and moments later Macklin Celebrini missed a high opportunity from the left circle.

Smith tied the game at 1-1 at 1:47. Celebrini sent a pass over the left wall to Collin Graf in the neutral zone. Graf put it together to make it 2-on-1 with Smith and kept it there until he fired a shot to Hellebuyck from low in the left circle. Hellebuyck made the save, but the rebound bounced in the air the other way and Smith batted it away.

Seconds after Barclay Goodrow got a chance for San Jose from the right circle, Barron gave Winnipeg a 1-0 lead on a rush. Tanner Pearson passed from the defensive blue line to Barron in the neutral zone, who took it to the left faceoff dot and fired a wrist shot into the far top corner at 2:44 of the first period.

The Sharks pushed through the rest of the frame and had a chance to equalize with a pair of power plays midway through the period, but managed only two shots on goal with the man advantage. They outscored the Jets 14-8 and held a 36-14 advantage in shot attempts after 20 minutes.

The visitors opened the game in the second period, outscoring San Jose 9-4 within the frame, limiting the hosts to two shots in nearly 17 minutes.
