The Hurricanes erased an early deficit and were never in danger after closing the half on a 19-2 run over the last eight minutes. Donaldson had nine points during the surge, and his layup with 3 seconds left gave Miami a 36-19 lead at halftime.
Washington’s 3-pointer with 12 minutes and 1 second left in the second half gave the Hurricanes their first 20-point lead at 51-31. The junior guard shot 5 of 8 from the field, including 2 of 4 from long range.
Dobrat made four of his five shots from the field in the second half, all 3-pointers, to help Miami recover from a tough first half from long range shooting. Dovrat’s fourth trey with 3:15 left made it 72-47. The Hurricanes made 6 of 12 3-point attempts after the break.
The win gave Miami a two-game sweep of the Eagles (10-19, 3-13). The Hurricanes won 74-68 at Boston College on February 7.
Boden Kapke had 18 points and Fred Payne and Jayden Hastings each had 11 points for the Eagles, who went on 9 of 10 points. Boston College is winless in the conference at 0-8.
The Hurricanes shot just 8 from 3-point range in the first half, but outscored the Eagles 26-8 in the paint. They also forced 10 turnovers, resulting in 12 points.
The Eagles connected on three of their four 3-point attempts in the first five minutes to build a seven-point advantage before missing 14 straight. Kapke connected on a two-pointer from long range, and Payne converted from beyond the arc to make the score 13-6.
After making five of their first eight shots, the Eagles shot 3-for-19 from the field for the remainder of the first half.
