Mason McTavish scored the game-winning goal as the host Anaheim Ducks extended their five-game winning streak to an entertaining 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Sunday.

Cutter Gauthier scored twice for the Ducks, who won 12 of 14 games and moved to within one point of the Vegas Golden Knights for first place in the Pacific Division. Anaheim also has one game ahead.

Goalkeeper Lukas Dostal made 32 saves in overtime and gave up one goal in the shootout.

McTavish patiently waited for the opening before depositing the puck for the differential winner in the third round. Anaheim holds a perfect 7-0 record in penalty shootouts this season.

Leo Carlsen also scored in the penalty shoot-out.

Joel Farabee and Yegor Sharangovich scored for the Flames, who completed a three-game road trip through California with a 1-1-1 record.

Goalie Devin Cooley stopped 34 shots in overtime but couldn’t find enough magic in the shootout.

After being blanked in Los Angeles the night before, the Flames were looking for a quick boost and received it when Farabee neatly redirected Ryan Lomberg’s cross-ice pass off the rush to open the scoring midway through the first period.

Gauthier also pulled Anaheim at 11:14 in the second period. He hit the puck from behind the net, over the net, and it bounced off Cooley’s back and into the cage.

Sharangovich’s power play goal gave Calgary the lead for the second time. He broke his eight-game scoring drought by hitting a bar-down shot from the top of the right circle at 16:10 of the second period.

Gauthier tied the clash again with a power-play goal of his own, a one-timer from the short side of the right circle for his team-high 28th goal of the season just past the midway point of the third period.
