Jacksonville students at the Pace Center for Girls are using controllers to play video games with police officers after the sheriff’s office’s new mobile gaming center was unveiled at the facility. Team Spirit advanced to the PGL Wallachia Season 7 playoffs with a 2-1 win over HEROIC on Monday in Bucharest, Romania.
Team Liquid also booked a playoff spot with a 2-0 sweep of PARIVISION. It was a clash of teams, with both Spirit-HEROIC and Liquid-PARIVISION starting the day with 2-0 records.
In two elimination matches involving 0-2 teams, Yellow Submarine defeated Team Nemesis 2-0 and OG defeated MOUZ 2-1.
In matchups involving 1-1 teams, Aurora Gaming defeated Tundra Esports 2-1, Xtreme Gaming topped BetBoom Team 2-1, Natus Vincere dominated Vici Gaming 2-1, and Team Yandex beat Team Falcons 2-0.
The $1 million Dota 2 tournament continues through Wednesday with group stages featuring 16 teams playing in a modified Swiss system format. All matches are best of three. The top eight teams advance to the playoffs, and the bottom eight teams are eliminated.
The playoffs will be held in a double-elimination format from Thursday to Sunday. All matches will be played as best-of-three matches until the finals, which will be best-of-five matches.
First place is worth $300,000, second place is worth $175,000 and third place is worth $120,000.
On Monday, HEROIC pulled out a win in 39 minutes on red, while Team Spirit bounced back with two wins in 46 minutes and 48 minutes on red.
Russia’s Denis “Larl” Sigitov finished with a kill-death-assist ratio of 21-13-32 for Team Spirit. Peru’s Santiago “TaiLung” Agüero Gustavo won HEROIC 28-13-33.
Team Liquid beat PARIVISION in 56 minutes in red and 42 minutes in green.
Sweden’s Michael “miCKe” Vu paced Team Liquid with a 27-7-27 KDA ratio. Russia’s Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov finished 13-9-18 at PARIVISION.
Yellow Submarine defeated Team Nemesis in 43 minutes for Red and 46 minutes for Green. Russia’s Andrei “bottega” Kopytko registered a 19-1-10 KDA rate for the Yellow Submarine. Thailand’s Worawit “Q” Mekchai had a 5-10-12 KDA ratio for Team Nemesis.
OG started off with a win after 49 minutes at Green, but MOUZ equalized after 35 minutes at Green. OG took the game to red after 41 minutes.
John “Natsumi-” Vargas finished 25-14-25 in the overall Philippine OG. Netherlands’ Remco “Crystallis” Arets has an 18-10-22 KDA ratio for MOUZ.
