Trump announced the operation in a post on his Truth Social platform, saying that US Central Command carried out a major bombing raid.

“A few moments ago, under my instructions, the United States Central Command executed one of the most powerful bombing raids in the history of the Middle East and completely destroyed all military targets in Iran’s crown jewel, Kharg Island”Trump wrote.
“Our weapons are the most powerful and sophisticated the world has ever known but, for reasons of decency, I have decided not to destroy the island’s oil infrastructure,” he added.
Iran warns against attacks on energy sites: Iranian officials have warned that attacks on the country’s oil and energy infrastructure could lead to retaliation. According to Iranian media, the Armed Forces’ Unified Combatant Command said that any attack on Iran’s energy facilities would trigger attacks on energy infrastructure belonging to companies cooperating with the United States in the region.
