Joey Daccord made 35 saves as the Seattle Kraken lost 2-1 to visiting Carolina on Monday, ending the Eastern Conference-leading Hurricanes’ 12-game point streak (10-0-2).

Kaapo Kakko and Ben Meyers scored and Adam Larsson had two assists for Seattle, which improved to 2-0-0 on a six-game homestand. Defenseman Jamie Oleksiak had a career-high 11 hits and blocked three shots.

Nikolaj Ehlers scored for Carolina, which had its five-game winning streak snapped. Frederik Andersen stopped 13 of 15 shots as the Hurricanes began a four-game West swing.

The Hurricanes outscored Seattle 13-7 in a scoreless first period.

The Kraken opened the scoring with a 2-on-1 rush at 3:22 in the second inning. Kakko carried the puck into the offensive zone on the right wing and beat Andersen with a wrist shot from the top inside the faceoff circle.

Seattle appeared to take a 2-0 lead at 8 when Jaden Schwartz tapped in Kakko’s pass with the man advantage, but the Hurricanes challenged the call and a quick video review determined it was offside as the Kraken entered the offensive zone.

The Kraken scored 48 seconds later.

Meyers took the puck up the middle before passing to Frederick Gaudreau on the right wing. Myers received a return pass and had his first close-range shot blocked by Andersen, but Myers’ backhand rebound bounced off the right post and hit defender Alexander Nikishin, who was on his knees, and found the goal.

The Hurricanes got on the scoreboard at 18:30 in the second.

Jordan Martinook got the puck behind the Seattle net and attempted to send a pass into the slot, but almost fanned it. The puck trickled toward Kraken defenseman Vince Dunn, who could have easily cleared it, but it trickled down his stick and right, allowing Ehlers to fire a wrist shot past Daccord from the high slot.

Kraken defenseman Ryan Lindgren has missed his third straight game with an upper body injury.
