Milan Momsilovic scored 21 points and Joshua Jefferson added 20 points and 12 rebounds as No. 7 Iowa State University defeated Arizona State University 91-42 in the second round of the Big 12 Conference Tournament on Wednesday in Kansas City, Missouri.

The fifth-seeded Cyclones (26-6) face Texas Tech (No. 16), the fourth seed in the latest AP poll, in the quarterfinals Thursday afternoon.

Iowa State led by as many as 33 points in the first half and 29 points at halftime, holding the 12th-seeded Sun Devils to 31.8 percent shooting from the floor and forcing 15 turnovers that led to 18 points for the Cyclones.

The second half wasn’t much better for Arizona State. Iowa State eventually extended the margin to 49 points, making the margin of victory the largest in Big 12 tournament history.

Blake Buchanan added 17 points and Tamin Lipsey had 11 for the Cyclones.

Santiago Trouet led Arizona State (17-16) with 13 points and was the only Sun Devil player in double figures. Maurice Odem, who entered this tournament averaging more than 17 points per game, scored nine points in Tuesday’s win over Baylor before scoring just two points on Wednesday.

The Sun Devils have lost to Iowa State twice in the past five days by a total of 70 points.

Iowa State set the table early, scoring the first seven points of the game before taking a 13-2 lead on Momcilovic’s layup with 13:28 left in the first half. Lipsey’s 3-pointer with 9:20 left in the first half increased the margin to 14 points. Jamarion Batemon’s jumper from beyond the arc on the break after Lipsey’s steal gave Iowa State a 27-10 lead with 7:51 left.

The Cyclones continued to extend their lead when Momcilovic hit a free throw and a 3-pointer to go up 33-10 with 4:03 left in the second half. Iowa State’s scoring eventually reached 16 straight points and built the lead to 40-10 before Massamba Diop’s jumper ended a scoreless six-minute stretch for the Sun Devils.

Bryce Ford’s jumper with a second left cut Arizona State’s deficit to 45-16 at the break.

Momcilovic led Iowa State’s offense with 12 points, while Buchanan and Bateman each added nine points before halftime. The Sun Devils shot just 7 of 22 shots from the field in the first half and missed all 10 of their 3-point attempts, so no player had more than four points.
