Elon Musk’s role in Dogecoin’s growth over the years cannot be overstated, as the billionaire served as the cornerstone of the 36,000% rally that captured the spotlight in 2021. Support for the meme coin also continued long after this, moving Dogecoin into the payments sector as well. However, after Musk acquired Twitter (now X) in 2023, his participation and tweets about the meme coin decreased and were non-existent last year.

When did Elon Musk last tweet about Dogecoin?

A search of Elon Musk’s X account shows that his last tweet about Dogecoin was more than a year ago. The tweet, which was posted back in November 2024, explained why the inflation mechanism used for cryptocurrency is really important.

According to Musk, Dogecoin’s uniform rate of inflation was actually a feature of its creation, not a bug. This is because a flat rate of inflation translates into a lower rate of inflation and is therefore a good thing for the digital asset.

Interestingly, this is the only tweet directly mentioning Dogecoin that appears in Musk’s account for 2024. Other tweets date back to 2023 and move on to 2022, when the billionaire was very active in his support of Dogecoin. But despite directly mentioning Dogecoin, Musk has subtly shown support for the meme coin by endorsing posts about DOGE as well as posting posts written by other X users.

No sign of DOGE in X Money

Although Elon Musk has been vocal in the past about the benefits of Dogecoin as a payment cryptocurrency, the launch of the new X Money feature could be the final nail in the coffin, suggesting that the owner of X is moving away from the meme coin. There have been several leaks of the X Money feature since the closed testing phase, but none of them show DOGE being used in the app.

Earlier in the week, Musk announced that the company is ready to launch early public access for X Money in April. But still, there is no sign of DOGE. So far, there have been reports of an X Money card offering that allows users to earn interest on their cash, direct deposits, cashback and easy money transfers between users, with this feature acting like a bank. However, there is no mention of DOGE or any other cryptocurrency.

Even with the launch of the Tip Jar feature, which allowed X users to send crypto to other X users, only the likes of Bitcoin and Ethereum made the cut. So far, there has been no integration of Dogecoin into X, dashing the hopes investors had when the billionaire first acquired Twitter.
