Grayscale is listing its ETF on the Nasdaq for the first time

Grayscale Investments announced Thursday that the Grayscale Avalanche Staking ETF (GAVA) will begin trading on Nasdaq, offering investors a new exchange-traded product linked to the Avalanche ecosystem.

The fund seeks to provide access to AVAX, the original token of the Avalanche network, while introducing staking to earn potential rewards by participating in the network’s Proof of Stake consensus model.

The launch of GAVA reflects ongoing investor interest in affordable investment vehicles that incorporate digital assets into traditional portfolios, said Inku Kang, senior vice president of ETFs at Grayscale.

Originally launched as a private placement in August 2024, the product now expands Grayscale’s line of digital asset investment tools.

“GAVA complements our existing suite of over 40 digital asset products and gives investors access to one of the market’s leading smart contract platforms, backed by Grayscale’s scale, research and infrastructure,” Kang said.

Avalanche is a smart contract platform designed to overcome the common limitations of blockchain by distributing the main functions among multiple chains responsible for transactions, smart contracts and network coordination.

The network separates key functions into three integrated chains responsible for digital asset transfer, smart contract execution, and validator coordination.

According to Grayscale, this architecture, combined with Avalanche L1 configurable blockchains, allows developers and enterprises to build a customized blockchain environment and maintain the overall performance of the network.

“Avalanche has been designed from day one to support real-world applications at scale,” said John Wu, president of Ava Labs. “Built for business, Avalanche enables financial services, enterprise platforms and real-world tokenized assets through a configurable and flexible architecture that gives institutions the performance, security and control they need to scale production.”
