Anthony Franco

  • Good evening. Hope you all have a great weekend!
  • Steve needs a day off today, so we’re rescheduling our chat this week. He’ll run one on Friday afternoon, and it’s scheduled to last about an hour.

red light hand

  • 4/112M for Freddy Peralta to sign extension with Mets. So do you think the deal will go through?

Anthony Franco

  • $28M AAV seems reasonable, but one year seems light. I have a hard time understanding why he gets paid less than Ranger Suarez, at least without seeing what’s there.
  • If he’s given another season, like in 2025, I assume he’ll get over $200 million over six years.

six

  • Do you think it was the right move for the Sox to trade OF? I’d like to expand my lineup with an infielder, but it’s really hard to find fair matchups and I don’t want to lose to any of the four.

Anthony Franco

  • No, I think they’re okay with Durbin and giving Mayer some leeway. I’ll keep all four.

league wide

  • Any predictions for late offseason trades before Opening Day? The free agent market is pretty barren, so there aren’t many options left for teams looking for an impact arm or bat.

Anthony Franco

  • I hope I’m wrong, but I can’t really see anything big at the moment. Most teams are saying they want to compete at least this year, and like you said, there’s no real opportunity to replenish free agency if they trade an impact player.
  • A Paredes trade before Opening Day seems possible, but unlikely. If that doesn’t happen, we’ll probably be fiddling with the back end of the roster for the next few months.

great hope

  • The Giants have a plethora of outfielders. The Royals need an outfielder. Are there any matches there?
